Research Collaboratory at ASU

Who RCASU is

ASU Enterprise Partners’ RCASU is a private, 501 (c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to working with and equipping Arizona State University faculty, staff, and students with the resources necessary to rapidly launch special innovative and impactful initiatives. As an incubator, RCASU is designed to select ideas generated at ASU and assist their creators by offering expert governance, legal support, and financial reporting. RCASU provides business consulting services to help new initiatives bridge the gap between discovery and the marketplace and aids certain international initiatives of ASU. Always assisting the university to leverage its place in the local and global community through its commitment to social embeddedness and entrepreneurialism, RCASU selects its projects on the principle of nurturing ideas that contribute to the common good and empower new generations of changemakers.

What RCASU Does

The first RCASU program is the National Biomarker Development Alliance, a trans-sector coalition of academics, patients, advocates and enterprise united to solve critical problems in biomarker development. NBDA will create evidence-based standards that encourage the industry to pursue rigorous, FDA-approved pathways. This new alliance has the potential to revolutionize personalized medicine. Despite a recent explosion of discovery, less than 100 biomarkers are currently in common use. NBDA support for the development of new biomarkers and standards will enable future patients to make informed decisions and choose custom treatments over one-size-fits-all therapies.
